Infrastructure

Promoting cycling, walking and public transportation, making the campus attractive and inclusive for the needs of all and critically monitoring construction measures: These are topics that the Department of Infrastructure deals with. As students, we are committed to continuously improving the traffic and housing situation on campus with those responsible at various levels, such as the university administration, the city or the state.

In addition to representing the interests of students, we organize various events on the topic of mobility every year. At Parking Day, we show how the urban space currently occupied by cars and parking spaces could be used in an alternative way. The  Bicycle Day focuses on our favorite mode of transport and tries to promote the mobility transition on campus as well.

As a member of Tram für Kiel e.V., we are currently concerned with the conversion of the transport network with the planned streetcar in Kiel, so that the concerns of the student body for a good connection to the university are taken into account. We are also campaigning for more affordable housing, e.g. by building new halls of residence in order to alleviate the tense housing situation.

We critically monitor planned construction projects in the Bicycle Forum and Building Committee of the City of Kiel. One of our main concerns there is the conversion of Veloroute 3, especially on Olshausenstraße, in spring 2024. Together with NAH.SH and the AStA finance department, we coordinate the state-wide semester ticket and welcome the introduction of the Deutschlandticket with improved conditions for students.

In addition to sustainability and the focus on future-proof means of transportation such as cycling and electrified public transport, accessibility and the impact on the quality of student life is always a central focus for us. In cooperation with various other AStA departments and the student parliament, we as students want to make the university a place for students to feel comfortable and to work, learn and live together.

We are always available to listen to your suggestions, questions and requests.
