To all students!
Take to the streets to protest their attacks on our academic conditions!
Just last year, the €60 “administrative fees” per semester were introduced despite our protests—with the promise that they would ensure the quality of teaching and research. Today we know that the black-green state government has broken its word!
What's going on right now?
- Hiring Freeze: At CAU, vacant positions will not be filled for at least nine months from the moment they become vacant. This also applies to temporary replacements for sick leave and parental leave.
- Massive job cuts: This means the loss of 150 to 200 jobs.
- Cutting costs at our expense: The university plans to save millions at the expense of our education.
What does this mean for us students?
- Courses or entire degree programs and professorships are being eliminated.
- Overcrowded classes and even fewer advisors for theses.
- This means we are accepting that our studies will be delayed—which, of course, also has a significant impact on our individual student financing.
- The bureaucracy is getting even slower.
- The university is becoming even more dependent on third-party funding and, as a result, on private profit motives that directly influence research and teaching.
Excellence? Only on paper!
At the same time, the CAU aims to become a “university of excellence.” But can a university that has been cut to the bone, with too few and overworked staff, truly be excellent?
We can take action against this! So come to the main square in front of the Audimax on May 6 at 12 p.m. for the general assembly and the rally that follows! Let’s show the state government and the university that we won’t let them cut our funding!
We demand:
- End the hiring freeze!
- Get rid of administrative fees!
- A fully funded university!
- Secure jobs in academia – Put an end to successive fixed-term contracts!
- Research and Teaching for Our Interests
To all employees!
Take to the streets to protest their attacks on our jobs!
Just last February, the state governments fobbed us off with paltry concessions during collective bargaining—barely enough to keep up with inflation. And now they’re piling on with a hiring freeze!
What's going on right now?
- Hiring freeze: At CAU, vacant positions will not be filled for at least nine months from the moment they become vacant.
- Massive job cuts: This means the loss of 150 to 200 jobs.
- Cutting costs at our expense: The university plans to save millions at the expense of our jobs and working conditions.
What does this mean for us employees?
- Expiring contracts will not be renewed—this is an attack on our livelihoods!
- No substitute for parental leave and sick leave
- We have to make up for the cuts—even more pressure and stress
- The bureaucracy is getting even slower.
- Our work is becoming even more dependent on third-party funding and, as a result, on private profit motives.
Excellence? Only on paper!
At the same time, the CAU wants to become a “university of excellence.” But how can a university that has been run into the ground by budget cuts—with overworked staff who fear for their jobs—be considered excellent?
We don’t just have to put up with these injustices—we can take action against them! So come to the main square in front of the Audimax on May 6 at 12 p.m. for the general assembly and the rally that follows. Together, we can show the state government and the university that we won’t let them cut our way out of this!
We demand:
- End the hiring freeze!
- Get rid of administrative fees!
- A fully funded university!
- Secure jobs in academia – Put an end to temporary contracts!
- Science and education for us—not for profit and the military!
