Student volunteers

Student organizations at CAU are facing ever-greater challenges. It is difficult to recruit new members—as reported by *Albrecht* and the campus radio station. Furthermore, voter turnout in the last student council election dropped to 12.82%. Both are alarming developments that further diminish the quality of life on campus and deal a blow to the practice of democracy at the university.

The goal of this Student Volunteers Office is to replace the Participation Unit and establish a clear, defined role as an office within the General Student Committee. Promoting engagement and volunteer work will be a top priority. The office will serve as an interface between the AStA, the StuPa, and university groups/initiatives, as well as volunteers.

The following tasks are specifically relevant in this context:

  1. Networking among college groups
  2. Greater visibility of student engagement on campus
  3. Events and applications in collaboration with university groups
  4. Support for the formation of college clubs
  5. Highlighting the Benefits: The presentation should highlight the positive aspects and personal benefits of serving on volunteer committees in higher education policy (e.g., broadening one’s horizons, strengthening one’s own skills in shaping campus life).
  6. Low-barrier access: The aim is to convey that students can join at any time and decide for themselves how much time they want to invest and which topics they want to work on.
  7. Removing barriers: The department will be responsible for explaining potentially confusing topics such as meeting procedures, the internal workings of committees, and the appropriate points of contact.
  8. Recruitment and Engagement: The goal is to get more students excited about getting involved and to encourage them to “just give it a try.”
