University politics

Hello and welcome to the university policy department!

A university, including our CAU, is per se a highly political place: What is researched? Who is heard in public with its content? What is taught, and how? Who is allowed to use the available resources - and who is not?

In this context, we, as the AStA department for university politics, network politically active students and are also actively involved in political processes. Our overarching goal is to improve studyability and the general study conditions at the CAU for everyone.

One of our core tasks is to promote and maintain dialogue between all political committees and bodies within the university. We support both student self-administration (StuPa, student councils) and students in the cross-status university committees (Senate and its committees as well as in faculty conventions).

To this end, we represent student concerns vis-à-vis the University Executive Board, the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament, the Ministry of Education and local politics. Here are two examples of key issues that we would like to promote:

  • The seemingly never-ending problem of the precarious housing situation for many students - we are calling for more affordable housing for students, especially on or near campus.
  • We are also in favour of the further development of the Schleswig-Holstein Higher Education Act (HSG-SH) and will provide critical support for this.

Furthermore, we strive for even better cooperation with other student representations within the framework of the State Student Conference (LAK SH), as well as nationwide networking with student bodies.

Last but not least, advising doctoral students is very important to us. We offer advice on questions of organization, further education and difficulties with the doctorate and, if necessary, arrange supervision agreements betwaeen doctoral students and supervisors from the respective faculties.

Feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions, suggestions, criticism or praise!
