The Student councils deparment is responsible within the AStA for all student councils at the CAU. It ensures that communication between the AStA and the student representatives is maintained so that both sides know what the other is doing. In addition, the student representatives department brings current topics and problems of the student councils to the AStA meetings.

Student councils

But what are student councils and what are their tasks? All students in a department (e.g. law) form a student council. The student representatives are elected once a year as part of the university elections. They organise regular meetings and discuss a wide range of issues affecting students. Their task is to solve problems (e.g. with lecturers or at the institutes), to provide students with advice and support (e.g. student counselling, first semester support) and to actively help shape student life (e.g. through parties and other events).

The student councils send one or two representatives to the Student Council Representatives' Conference (FVK) to network with the other student councils.

Student Council Representatives' Conference (FVK)

The FVK (Fachschaftsvertreterkonferenz) is a monthly meeting of all student representatives. They decide on joint procedures in their student council work (e.g. UNS regulations), they work out joint solutions to problems affecting all student councils, they discuss university policy issues affecting the student councils and network with each other.

FVK coordination

The FVK Coordination manages the FVK and implements its resolutions. It also supports the student councils with advice and assistance and provides new impetus for joint student council work at the CAU. The coordination usually consists of the same representatives as the student representatives and thus also ensures communication and exchange between the AStA and the student representatives.
