Studying is exciting – but also challenging. Exam pressure, fears about the future, personal crises, or feelings of being overwhelmed can all be stressful. To make sure you don’t have to face such situations alone, there is the psychosocial counseling service of the AStA at CAU and HAW Kiel (formerly FH).

Our services are free of charge, anonymous, and confidential. Together, we’ll explore ways to strengthen your mental health and enhance your sense of self-efficacy.

How we work

Our counseling is not psychotherapy. Instead, we see it as guidance for self-help and orientation. We work on an equal footing, actively involve you in the process, and respect your autonomy. Your anonymity is always protected – we are bound by confidentiality. We also place particular emphasis on sensitivity to diversity.

Who is the counseling for?

  • For all students of CAU and HAW Kiel (formerly FH)
  • Regardless of origin, field of study, or semester

Even if you can’t quite put your finger on what’s wrong but just feel dissatisfied, you’ve come to the right place.

How we can support you

We support you with a variety of concerns, for example:

  • Exam anxiety and stress management
  • Loneliness and feeling overwhelmed
  • Doubts about your studies and life crises
  • Conflicts in your social or family environment
  • Or even if you’re not exactly sure what’s going on but feel that it would be helpful to talk to someone confidentially.

If your concern goes beyond the scope of our counseling, we will refer you to appropriate specialists, such as psychotherapists or other support services.

What we offer

  • Individual sessions – on-site, by phone, or online
  • Crisis intervention in urgent situations
  • Workshops in collaboration with other counseling services
