FAQ regarding the 9-für-90 nationwide public transit ticket
Actually, nothing really! You just need a valid semester ticket (If you haven’t already: Order your current Semesterticket here!). You can show this at ticket inspections throughout Germany during the campaign period. Do not buy an additional ticket!
This question is listed again extra, because some queries came anyway: Do not buy an extra “9 Euro ticket”.
If you have already bought a “9 Euro Ticket”, please contact the ticket office and ask if you can return it, because you are already covered by your Aboticket/Semesterticket.
In the case of paper tickets, where no name has been entered yet, it would probably be possible to pass it on to a third party.
Refunds from other distribution & sales points for purchased “9 Euro tickets” are not available from the student bodies.
The “9 Euro Ticket” is valid throughout the whole Federal Republic of Germany – from the alps to the sea. You can use all public transit, except long traveling trains (like ICE/EC/IC etc.) from June 1st until August 31st, 2022.
This special offer is funded by the state in context of a relief package to ease the effects of rising energy and fuel costs.
As you know, in the course of the nationwide introduction of the 9-Euro-Ticket in June, July and August, our statewide semesterticket is also valid nationwide on all public buses and trains (not on long-distance trains). All you need to do is activate your semester ticket. You can find all the necessary information here.
Since the federal government provides the financial means for the 9-Euro-Ticket, our price for the current semesterticket is reduced. The difference is 59,50 €, which you will get back via the following online form!
Which data do I need?
1) Your ticket number! You can find it in the app and on the paper ticket here: https://asta.uni-kiel.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/2022-09-23-Wo-finde-ich-meine-Ticketnummer.pdf
– Note for the mobile ticket: Use the number combination at “Ticket-Nr:” and not the mirrored numbers at the end of the page.
– The ticket number contains 5 to 9 digits, 99% of the students have 8 or 9 digits!
– You will only receive a ticket number if you have activated your semesterticket for the current semester. Activate here: https://nah.sh/semesterticket
2) Your account data/IBAN!
3) Your stu-mail address! stu…..@mail.uni-kiel.de
NOT your matriculation number
After submitting the form you have to confirm your stu-mail in your email inbox within 48 hours to verify your identity.
Only if all data is entered correctly and you have verified via your stu-mail, your application can be processed. After the application deadline (31.08.2022) we will check all applications starting September and then transfer the amount to your given account details. Until then, we ask for your understanding that we cannot provide information about the repayment status of individual applications.
Fill out the online form here until 31.08.2022 at the latest to apply for the repayment of 59,50 €:

[Students who have already received the (entire) amount of the semesterticket back due to a valid refund (e.g. due to a semester off, etc.) or a hardship application, are not entitled to the 9-Euro-Ticket refund explained here again.]
If you have any questions, take a look at our FAQ or – if it hasn’t been solved – feel free to send us an email via your stu-mailbox to 9fuer90@asta.uni-kiel.de.
The public transit agency of Schleswig-Holstein (NAH.SH) is organising everything around the 9-für-90 ticket in SH.
They have a always up to date FAQ and more informations on their Homepage: NAH.SH Infopage regarding the “9 Euro Ticket” (not yet in english).
If you still have questions, please send a mail via your stu-mail to 9fuer90@asta.uni-kiel.de.
[“9 for 90 Ticket” was the name of the government at the beginning for the project, there the mail address was created, now it is called “9 Euro Ticket”. Let it be so – mail address remains the same ;)].
Semesterticket FAQ - here you can find answers on the most asked questions regarding the Semesterticket.
The Semesterticket includes all of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg (HVV A+B). It is valid for local busses and local trains (RE, RB).
The ticket doesn’t inlcude the Sylt bus, the bus services on the other North Frisian islands and is neither valid in ICE/IC/EC trains nor in the “Flixbus”.
If you have ordered your ticket you can use these trains and busses as often as they wish, that means 24/7, every day of the week, all days of the semester from October to April and April to October.
You can get the map in high-res. as .pdf here.
The zoomed-in map of the Hamburg zones can be found here:HVV-Map with Rings A and B.
The tariff rules of the Semester ticket are here: Tarifbestimmungen Semesterticket Schleswig-Holstein

The semester fee is explained and broken down here. There you can also find the current amount of the Semesterticket.
In January 2019 the students of CAU where asked if they want to have the statewide Semesterticket. After that, the elected student’s parliament voted in favor of the introduction of the statewide Semesterticket.
Yes, you can. It’s valid 24/7 and on all days of the 6 month of each semester. The valid period for the winter semester starts October 1st, the one for the summer semester starts April 1st (no joke).
It’s possible to take 3 kids under the age of 6 with you. Additional kids need an own ticket. Addtional adults, dogs and bikes are not (yet) included in the Semesterticket and need extra tickets, too. We hope they will be included in the Semesterticket the following years.
You can order your ticket (mobile or paper) on the NAH.SH Homepage. The page to order the code/ticket can be found here.
There you can decide if you want to have the mobile ticket, which will be integrated in the NAH.SH app, or a paper ticket, which will be send to you by mail.
Be aware: If you choose the paper ticket, you’ll get just one replacement per semester and switching between mobile and paper ticket during the semester is not possible.
More information how to get the ticket can be found here.
You have to order your ticket every semester.
There are refund and hardship rules. (e.g. if you have a handicap or study at a university outside of the area of validity and so on).
All information on that on our Refund and Hardship Page.
There is just one version of the Semesterticket. Different versions like “just Kiel” or “everything but Hamburg” don’t exist. Just because of this solidary form/version the price can be that low for all students.
In the end the Semestertickets costs, what students ride in tickets costs. The current price was surveyed some semesters ago where they looked into the public transportation mobility behavior of students in SH.
After the launch of the new Semesterticket there will be a next survey to get new numbers.
With the end of the funding of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, we as the students’s body can cancel this contract and would fall back to the Kiel area ticket.
The students’ parliament would have to vote on that.
Whether we students want to keep the ticket depends on the tariff conditions then and what the result of the upcoming price negotioations will be.
The ticket is financed with a solidarity model, comparable to the Mensa or Fachschaften, which are subsidized with your semester fee. For a private person a comparable ticket would cost right now 3094,20€/a.
Really? Checked the other pages (area of validity and so on?)
